Lot 51 of 739: Roman Patera Mount.  Circa 50 - 300 AD. Copper-alloy, 21.64 grams. 34.27 mm. A cast bronze zoomorphic mount from a Roman patera. The mount is broadly oval with a projecting rectangular hook-like element above. The piece is decorated in the form of a curled up or crouched sleeping dog, with engraved lines used to depict a pair of straps as well as legs, feet, eye and ear.
