Lot 83 of 739: Anglo-Saxon Brooch.  Circa 9th-10th century AD. Copper-alloy, 5.34 grams. 28.61 mm. A Saxon plate brooch of sub-triangular form. The face of this interesting piece is engraved with very crude and highly stylised design, at the centre a representation of a beast looking back within a plain double lined border. On either side, a series of short incised lines. Below and above are three bold pellet in ring motifs, the upper two have what appear to be a form of beast or bird looking out to each side
