Lot 138 of 739: Medieval Seal.  Circa 14th century. Copper-alloy, 17.24 mm. A small medieval chess-piece type seal matrix with an octagonal shaft and large suspension loop. The face of the seal is detailed with the head of a stag with a cross between the antlers and an inscription around. +PRIVESV. "I am private". The stag with a cross is associated with Saint Eustace and Saint Hubert. Ref: Bryon Pateman, Collecting Seals. p. 96. From an old English collection.
