Lot 143a of 442: Corieltavi, Volisios Dumnovellaunos gold stater. Circa AD 43-47. Obverse: VOL[I] SIO[S] in two lines divided by vertical wreath. Reverse: Lunate horse left with open head, DVMNOVELLAVNOS around, pellet triad below head. 20mm, 5.32g. A heavyweight example of this extremely rare stater, struck on a large flan which displays the reverse inscription in its entirety. ABC 1995; VA 988-1; Spink 419.
