Lot 36 of 381: An unpublished silver denarius of the Britannic emperor Carausius (AD 286-293) dating to c. AD 286-293. Obverse: IMP CARAVSIVS PF AVG, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right. Reverse: FORTVNA AVG, Fortuna seated left feeding snake rising from altar. Unattributed mint. Very Fine, flan slightly angular. Unique. Weight: 5.5g.   Discussion: this coin is unique, no other example known to exist. The best parallel for it comes in the form of a copper-alloy radiate with a reverse type depicting Salu
