Lot 219 of 381: A complete but heavily distorted cast copper-alloy bow brooch dating to the Late Iron Age, c. 50 BC-AD 50. This example is of La Tene III/Nauheim Derivative type, being of one-piece construction and demonstrating a wound head, tapering bow with a central flute and an integrally cast catchplate. The pin now bent away from the bow. Condition: good, even green patina. Of larger size than normal. Length: c. 70mm. Provenance: from the collection of a metal detectorist.
