Lot 30 of 714: A late Iron Age or Roman zoomorphic vessel mount in the form of a cockerel. The cockerel has incised linear decoration and is hollow on the underside, remnants of lead solder remain. Cockerels are associated with Lugus who was a Celtic god, and who was further associated with Mercury. Circa 1st - 2nd century AD, cf PAS LIN-B4F273. 40mm, 9.6g.
