Lot 229 of 381: A mostly complete cast copper-alloy ‘nail cleaner strap end’ of Late Roman date, c. AD 250-410. The object is essentially amphora-shaped in plan view, consisting a single plate that bifurcates at its apex to accommodate the original strap via means of a now missing circular rivet. At the base of the strap end is a fluting that runs up a portion of its basal section, while at its midsection are two crescent-shaped decorative lugs.  Stamped circular dimples decorate the edges of its upper section,
