Lot 235 of 381: Two cast copper-alloy cosmetic implements dating to the Roman period, c. AD 43-410. Both probably represent the same type of tool (nail cleaner), being rod-shaped with a flared, bifurcated end. One broken, the other practically complete with suspension loop and incised chevron decoration. Length of complete implement: c. 71mm.  Provenance: from the collection of an ex metal detectorist, found Oxfordshire/Berkshire/Hampshire during the 1980s and 1990s.
