Lot 238 of 381: A complete cast copper-alloy tumbler lock slide key dating to the Roman period, c. AD 43-410. The object consists a circular bow set atop a thickened rectangular stem, below which are the stem and bit. The latter extends at a right angle, demonstrating two adjacent clefts and wards respectively. Condition: very good, dark greenish patina with some lighter areas. Length: c. 47mm. Provenance: found Ellesborough, Buckinghamshire, 2015. Recorded on the PAS as BH-9A0ACE.
