Lot 242 of 381: A complete cast copper-alloy mount dating to the Roman period, c. AD 43-410. It is conical in plan, a small rounded knop with a central aperture extending from one end. Possibly a fitting or finial from furniture. Condition: good, even green patina. Length:  Discussion: a number of similar mounts are known, often described as plumb-bobs due to their similarity in appearance to modern examples. Such an identification, however, is undermined by the fact that there is nowhere to thread a cord.
