Lot 29 of 796: Roman Zoomorphic Furniture Mount.  Circa 2nd-4th century AD. Copper-alloy, 26mm diameter x 14mm, 11.7g. A roundel type box or chest mount in the stylised form of a lion's head. Similar pieces were found during excavations at Skeleton Green, Hertfordshire, in association with mid-1st to 2nd century burial caskets (see Borrill in Partridge 1981: 314-318).
