Lot 104 of 796: Medieval Dagger Pommel  A Post Medieval copper alloy knife pommel in the form of a dog's head, a spaniel (AD1500-1600). John Clark identified this as the pommel from a single edged knife like a hunting dagger. The spaniel is usually associated with the Talbot family. He notes that single-edged knife pommels are often assymetrical like this example. This pommel is hollow and is cast to form a three-dimensional dog’s head.
