Lot 43 of 200: A Staffordshire Portrait figure titled Wesley in gilt script, this small figure shows John Wesley (1703-91), the founder of Methodism standing and preaching from a bible. The subject of Wesley was one of the most popular for portrait figures in Victorian times, although he was a historic not contemporary figure.  Many of the Staffordshire potteries made similar figures, in a limited number of styles.
