Lot 22 of 988: Romano-British Figurine. Circa 1st century AD. Silver, 27.16 grams. 37.65 x 38.96 x 9.11 mm. A votive silver figurine in the form of a horse. The form and features are very stylised with oversized eyes, flat nose and short mane. The horses coat is formed of irregular incised lines over the whole piece. One leg is missing, probably done deliberately and of a votive nature. These small figurines of horses are common in both Gaul and Britain but silver examples are rare. Ref: Green, 1976, p.33, p
