Lot 36 of 988: Roman Vessel Lid.  Circa, 1st century AD. Copper-alloy, 38mm x 34mm x 18mm, 27g. A bronze lid with a stylised bird finial or handle, used to open the lid but also as decoration. Several parallels are apparent, notably in two similar duck shaped mounts discovered in situ on the lid of a copper-alloy vessel from Brandon, Suffolk, and on another similar lid from Santon, Norfolk.
