Lot 1008 of 217: British Late Iron Age, an uninscribed gold quarter stater of the Western Region/East Wiltshire confederation dating c. 60-20 BC. Rudd's 'Three Wheels Right' type. Obverse: oblique 'wreath' design evoking degraded bust of Apollo with 'cloak' motifs, wheel and crescents. Reverse: triple-tailed horse prancing right, wheels above back and between legs, pellet-in-annulet motifs in fields. Very Fine, extremely rare with an excellent provenance. Diameter: 14.39mm. Weight: 1.26g. ABC 2093, BMC 498-501.
