Lot 1012 of 217: British Late Iron Age, an inscribed gold stater attributed to Cunobelin of the Eastern Region/Trinovantes and Catavellaunii, dating c. AD 10-20. Rudd's 'Cunobelinus Wild' type. Obverse: five-eared stalk of wheat dividing inscription CA/MV. Reverse: somewhat crude horse prancing right, branch and star above back, pellet-in-ring between legs, CVNO below. Nearly Very Fine. Some minor die flaws in reverse fields and a few edge splits, struck on a smaller flan. Diameter: c. 16mm. Weight: 5.36g. ABC 2
