Lot 1045 of 217: Anglo-Saxon, anonymous silver sceatta of the Secondary Phase series I (style B), dating c. AD 710-750. Obverse: no inscription, wolf head right with prominent mane and elongated, curling tongue. Reverse: bird or ‘fledgling’ right, trefoil tail in triqueta above, three pellets below legs. About Very Fine.  Diameter: 11mm. Weight: 1.08g. Abramson (2006), fig. I110. Provenance: found Oxfordshire, from the collection of a metal detectorist.
