Lot 1047 of 217: Anglo-Saxon, a copper-alloy styca struck for Aethelred II of Northumbria's second reign, dating c. AD 844-848. Moneyer EARDWULF at uncertain Northumbrian mint. Obverse: EDILRED REX, central small cross within inner solid circle. Reverse: +EARDVVLF, central pellet within inner solid circle. Good Fine, pleasing green patina. Diameter: 12.5mm. Weight: 0.87g. N190.  Provenance: from the collection of a metal detectorist. Found Lincolnshire.
