Lot 1166 of 217: Earlier Medieval, a virtually complete gilt copper-alloy and champlevé enamel anthropomorphic mount of probable Limoges manufacture, dating c. 1100-1250. Probably intended to represent a saint or apostle, the mount demonstrates a bulbous head set atop a rather spindly neck, the latter expanding out into a broadly rectangular body with two consecutive apertures for now-missing rivets aligned down its centre-line.
