Lot 1167 of 217: Medieval, a silver hawking ring or 'vervel' dating to the later 14th or early 15th century, c. 1350-1450. This example is of the well-attested annular or 'washer' form, being circular in plan and rectangular-sectioned, with a large central aperture to facilitate attachment to the 'jesses' or leash attached to the bird's leg.
