Lot 1091 of 1529: A rare Staffordshire pottery mug commemorating the Peterloo Massacre in Manchester on 16th August 1819. The Peterloo Massacre took place at St Peter's Field, Manchester, resulting in the deaths of 18 spectators and at least 700 injured. The local newspaper The Manchester Observer described the atrocity 'The Peterloo Massacre', c.1820. Titled Murders on the Plains of Peterloo. Size 12.5cm high and 9cm diameter. Condition: broken and reglued.
