Lot 194 of 466: A good quality WW1 period, patriotic embroidered stable belt. Hand made by Arthur Middleton Varah of the Essex Regiment, or more simply known as Arthur Varah. The belt was made by Arthur while convalescing in hospital at Ypres in 1917, as evidenced by his initials ‘AV’ on the item. The piece is embroidered in a tapestry style, using the flag designs of the allied nations of the era.
