Each brooch depicts an early bi-plane, with one being made in a fine quality gilt metal with enamel, with the words 'still upwards' to the fuselage (makers mark of Kemp Brothers, Union St, Bristol), another in white metal (possibly unmarked silver), with the date 1915 picked out in a rose gold wash, and a silver and enamel piece marked 'Sterling' the reverse, and the makers name of 'TLM' for Thomas Lyster Mott.
