Lot 5 of 597: Bronze Age Looped Palstave Axe Age. Palstave Axe, Circa 1000 BC. A good example of a Bronze Age bronze palstave axe (Nettlesham Type) with side fixing loop and a single raised rib decorating the face of the blade neck. The blade itself has straight sides that taper outwards to shallow crescent-shaped cutting edge. A rectangular recessed panel on each side forms the butt of the axe and fixing slot for the handle.
