Lot 66 of 597: A gold and ivory (probably Walrus or Hippo) upper set of dentures dating c. 1800-1850. Representing the upper jaw, the outer part of the denture consisting the replicated teeth and gums is made from one curved section of ivory, now split at several points but still connected as a whole. The underside of the 'teeth' demonstrate crude criss-crossed incisions intended to better represent the molars, while attached to the sides of the dentures are circular rivet holes with attached springs.
