Lot 86A of 381: An anonymous silver plated (copper-alloy cored) Anglo-Saxon sceatta of the primary phase, dating c. 700-715. Series W/N mule. Obverse: beast right, head turned left over back. Reverse: cross pommée on trifurcated saltire. Abramson (2006), p. 42, fig.  WN300. Surfaces somewhat rough in places, some base metal deposits. Nearly Very Fine. Weight: 1.02g. Discussion: patches of atypical corrosion and flaked sections showing base-metal corrosion suggest this is a plated issue rather than solid silver
