Lot 299D of 381: A complete cast copper-alloy later Early Medieval slide key dating c. AD 900-1100. The key demonstrates an oval, rectangular sectioned bow with an internal ogival-shaped aperture. The latter transitions into a thickened, circular-sectioned hollow shaft at its front edge, off which the rectangular bit plunges down-the latter demonstrating two small, oblique clefts taken from its left edge. A relatively common form. Condition: very good, deep green patina, a few small knocks to bow. Length: 41.5mm
