Lot 1001 of 217: British Late Iron Age, an uninscribed 'British LB' gold stater of the North Thames Region/Catavellaunii, probably dating c. 60-20 BC. Rudd’s ‘Whaddon Chase Big Wheel’ type. Obverse: opposed crescents on wreath, ‘clock’, ‘wing’ and figure-of-eight patterns in angles. Reverse: horse prancing right, ‘wing’ motif above back, wheel between legs.
