Lot 1003 of 217: Continental Late Iron Age, an uninscribed gold quarter stater of Gallic extraction (attributed to the Nervii) probably dating to the second century BC. Rudd's 'crossed lines with rider' type. Obverse: series of crossed chisel marks. Reverse: horse and rider left, stylised lyre below. Diameter: 13.5mm. Weight: 1.9g. C.f ABC p. 29, no. 37. Provenance: found Rettendon, Essex.
